Clarkston High School Lacrosse

Boys Varsity Lacrosse 2011 - Go Wolves!

The 2011 Lacrosse Season will begin with the first practice on March 15th.   Our program has the opportunity to become one of the top teams in our Region.  We cannot achieve success without complete dedication from the coaches, players and their families.     Unfortunately, Spring Break is held the week of April 4th – which is a crucial point in our schedule.   Therefore we are making plans to keep our team competitive during this week.   We want to make sure that everyone is clear on the plans and expectations for 2011 Spring Break April 4-8.

Varsity players will be having practice and possibly games the week of spring break.  We are looking into a few different options:

Disney option:

Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex

We would travel to Orlando Florida and stay at a Disney Caribbean Beach Resort.

The package includes a four night stay and a 3 day park hopper pass

Players would be provided breakfast each day

The team would receive a one hour training clinic with Casey Powell (Syracuse and MLL Lacrosse superstar)

Unlimited practice team time we want to schedule.

All Transportation to and from the fields and to the parks

Cost (NOT INCLUDING GETTING TO ORLANDO) $499 per person ($125 per night)

We are working with a travel agent to find inexpensive flights for the trip.

We would not require players to fly, families or parents may drive provided the players were at the resort at the scheduled time and day

For more information go to http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/%20 and click on the lacrosse link under sports. To see the resort go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/caribbean-beach-resort/

Ohio option

We would be traveling to Southern Ohio or Indiana

Travel would be by bus

We would stay in hotels along the route

Games would be played and practices would be held (where possible)

This trip would be much like the 2010 trip

Stay Home option

Stay home and hold practice and games

We are currently looking at all options and are trying to provide the best opportunity and experience for our team.   All family members are invited to join the varsity team on any of the trips that we make.  We welcome your input on which option you would prefer.

Obviously the first two options have financial requirements and we are exploring several fundraising events.  While we cannot guarantee that the fundraising efforts will completely offset the cost, the amount raised will help.  Amount earned for your trip would be dependent on your participation.  Currently we have scheduled a Night at Culver’s – (Wednesday, July 14th 4 – 9 pm).   We are also investigating two dates for weekend car washes.   More information for both events will be provided as soon as the plans are confirmed.

Travel participation will NOT determine whether or not you will be selected to a Varsity team.  However, Varsity must have 100% participation in whatever option is chosen.  If we are unable to have 100% participation in our travel plans, our only option would be to stay in Clarkston during break and hold practices/scrimmages locally.   If you intend to tryout for the Varsity team, you should consider participating in the fundraising events to offset any cost for travel.

We welcome any questions you may have about our Spring Break Training plans.  With the support of the Clarkston parents and athletes, our program can become competitive with the best teams in the State.

Sincerely,

The Clarkston Lacrosse Coaching Staff
